Here are a few recommendations for your ears this summer. Rick Froberg (Hot Snakes, Drive Like Jehu, Pitchfork) assembled a new quartet and released The Obits first full length "I Blame You". This record is solid from beginning to end. Easily worth whatever it costs, so BUY it!
If you are looking for something different, check out Gary Louris and Mark Olson's new record "Ready for the Flood". I was bummed when Mark left the Jayhawks, so this is a treat for Jayhawks fan. Give it a listen.
So Last Sunday was the final day where the whole mountain was open at Squaw Valley. It was also Sundance Sports employee ride day. Paul was nice enough to invite Aska, Capita Chris and I, so we headed up to check it out.
After 3 screwdrivers each we decided to hit the slopes. It was a super fun day in the sun. The snow was slow, but fast enough to ollie over trees and anything else than was in out way.
I guess it was the season pass holder's appreciation party, which resembled an MTv Spring Break pool party.
All in all, fun last day of the season for the Milo Family. Thanks Squaw!
First off, I want to thank Sugar Bowl for hooking everyone up with $15 tickets, and dealing with our rowdy bunch. I also was to thank everyone who came out to have fun with us for the 2nd annual Unity Day. We not only had some of our favorite reps there, but also employees from Milosport, Boards n' Motion, Sundance Sports, Lombardi's, and The Boardroom. Snowboard shops need to be friends, not enemies. Unity Day is something we hope catches on in other territories, not just Northern California. Snowboarding is about FUN.
The 12:30 BBQ was awesome. I'm pretty sure at one point there were about 60 people hanging out drinking beer and eating hot dogs. After lunch, we headed up the Lincoln chair for a 50 person deep cannonball run. It was pretty funny watching that many people going really slow due to the snow conditions. Next year we will do it first thing. After that it was a free-for-all in the park. Super fun times all around. We concluded the trip by eating ham at Chris' house with Erika and Stella, then heading over to Cheaters for a White Russian and a Scooby Snack. Look for an even bigger Unity Day next year.
After a short night of drinking we woke up early (9:45) to hit third chair at Homewood on their last open day of the season. We met up with Lindsay from the Boardroom and Trevor from Spacecraft. We sessioned the park and the snake run all day. The features were fun, but the snow got SLOW by about 2pm. After the slush fest we went and ate pizza and then went back to Homewood for the employee party where there was some drunken 4-wheeling, beer drinking, and asphalt burning. Yes, some intelligent employee put asphalt in the bottom of the burn barrel.
It smelled great.
Once we left there we stopped at the Tahoe City local bar Pete and Peter's. This was funny because we saw some guy's wife trying to hump some dude while her husband was standing right there. After that place got too weird, we went back to Trevor's for a night cap of Absinthe shots. Next Stop, UNITY DAY!
